Prepping for Your Photofacial
To achieve the best possible experience, we have some recommendations to prepare for your photofacial with Mill City Laser. One of the simpler prep-steps is avoiding sunlight and chemical peels for 4-6 weeks before (and after) your appointment. It is very difficult to treat freshly tanned skin, as it can leave behind unwanted white marks (hypo-pigmentation).
If you use any photosensitizing topical creams or exfoliants like Retin A. or Renova — hold off for about two weeks before your treatment. One of our dedicated technicians may also recommend halting any non-prescribed topical medications or skincare products in the week leading up to your appointment. Make sure to disclose any topical products you use or if you have a history of peri-oral herpes simplex virus, as we may recommend additional steps to ensure the best possible experience.
Aftercare Recommendations
Once you are all finished with your photofacial treatment, we have some tips and suggestions to help with the aftercare process. Although photofacials are a non-invasive skincare treatment, you may feel a mild sunburn-like feeling in the treated areas for a few days. You also may see some slight darkening of a lesion or red puffiness on the treated areas, but fear not — this is completely normal and will go away after 3-5 days as the top layer of skin sheds.
Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen on the treated areas daily and avoid the sun for the next three weeks (as much as possible). You can also go back to using any topical face items or non-fragrance moisturizer one day after your appointment to help with any crusting or peeling of the top layer of skin. Try to avoid hot areas like saunas, hot tubs, or even excessive exercise as your skin needs time to heal.
Do not worry, once you have undergone our photofacial treatment, one of our trusted technicians will make sure to go over all of your post-treatment needs.
Are the Photofacial Results Permanent?
While we would love to ensure that your sun spots, brown marks, or age spots will never come back after a photofacial — we cannot stop the sun from shining or the years from passing. We recommend 3 sessions to achieve the best possible results, but with Mill City Laser, there is no pressure to make a commitment prior to knowing what you might need to achieve your goals. That is why we offer individual treatments or bundles to give our clients options that fit for them.
Membership & Pricing
We take a unique approach to pricing our photofacial treatments to give our clients the freedom and flexibility to choose the option that works for them. We remove the fuss and confusion surrounding the photofacial vs. photo rejuvenation or IPL vs. BBL options — as our certified and friendly technicians will recommend the best possible treatment for you.
Our incredible technology means that your photofacial sessions are quick! Our specialists recommend 1-3 sessions depending on the number of unwanted spots to get the best possible results.
While we understand life can be hectic, we have a no refund policy for cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance. We do offer flexibility for cancellations due to health.
