Avoid direct sunlight for 4-6 weeks before and after your treatment to avoid any unwanted side effects. Tan skin and sun exposure prior to your treatment could result in pigmentation changes. The closer the sun exposure is to the treatment, both before and after treatment, the likelihood of pigmentation changes increases.

You should also disclose any topical product usage to your technician, whether it is over the counter or prescribed. They will likely recommend halting any photosensitizing products that contain retinoids and acids for a few weeks, along with other non-prescribed topical medications. 

If you have a history of peri-oral herpes simplex virus, we also may recommend some bonus steps to reach your goals and avoid negative side effects. 

Aftercare Tips For Your Treatment 

After you have completed your first redness and broken capillaries treatment, what is next? You may experience a mild sunburn-like sensation or slight puffiness in the treated areas. If the sensation is bothersome, try using ice packs to cool the area, reduce inflammation, and bring down the redness. 

We also recommend avoiding heat for 24 hours after your treatment. This includes direct sunlight, saunas, hot tubs, and even excessive exercise. If you must be out and about in the sun, be sure to use SPF 30+ sunscreen to reduce exposure for a few weeks following your appointment.
